Algorithmic Manipulation

What is Filter Bubble?

Recommendation algorithms show you more of what you already engage with. Over time this narrows what you see, until opposing views rarely appear at all.

Where it comes from

Coined by Eli Pariser (2011)

How it hooks you

Exploits confirmation bias: content that agrees with you is easier to engage with, so the algorithm serves more of it.

How to resist it

Deliberately follow credible voices you disagree with, and use chronological feeds when possible.
